The Wall of Colour

And now, a turning point. I went to the Van Gogh exhibition at the National Gallery three times just to look at how he made the foliage vibrate using several contrasting colours.

This is led to the possibility of an immersive, shimmering colour field at scale.

Gold or silver aluminium emergency blanket is multi-coated with layers of gesso primer and watery acrylic used luminously.  Then paint is printed in wobbly lines using a corrugated block. The contrasting and overlapping colours create a ‘wall of colour’ - a shimmer.
